W-Engine Tier List

This is our preliminary tier list for all of the W-Engines that are currently in Zenless Zone Zero as of the 1.0 release. Think of W-Engines as weapons in Genshin Impact or Light Cones in Star Rail. This tier list will be updated regularly as new updates and balance changes are implemented to ZZZ, so stay tuned!

Tier List

Attention, all proxies! This is a list of all available W-Engines that will prove valuable to you on your commissions. We will be going over the W-Engine, their ranking, and quick explanation as to why they've earned their rank!

Tier List

Tier List Explanation

  • S Tier: The best W-Engines in the game. These should be considered best in slot for role / element combinations.
  • A Tier: W-Engines that are exceptional and will serve you very well for a long time to come.
  • B Tier: These W-Engines are about average, but for certain agents, the W-Engines in this tier can be excellent.
  • C Tier: W-Engines that are below average and should only be used temporarily until you can get your hands on something better. All B rank W-Engines go here.

S Tier

Deep Sea Visitor

Amazing W-Engine for Ice Attack Units, best in slot.

Fusion Compiler

Top tier for anomaly units who can use their Special / EX Special more than one time in rapid succession.

Hellfire Gears

Top tier pick for any stun unit who can perform their EX Special more than once in quick succession.

Kaboom the Cannon

One of the best support W-Engines and it's an A rank, best in slot for units such as Lucy.

Riot Suppressor Mark VI

Best in slot for Ether units who are able to use EX Special Attacks in rapid succession.

Starlight Engine Replica

Extremely good future proof W-Engine for any physical agent who is able to attack at a range.

Steel Cushion

Best in slot for physical units who are able to easily get behind an enemy.

The Brimstone

Top tier for any attack agent who is able to stay on the enemy and plans to stay on the field for a considerable amount of time.

The Restrained

Top tier for stun units, particularly good for units who inflict a lot of daze on their basic attacks.

Weeping Cradle

One of the best options for support units who are able to provide damage while off the field such as Lucy or Rina.

A Tier

Bashful Demon

Great pick for Ice Support agents, and Soukaku's best W-Engine

Canon Rotor

Good for attack agents as it has crit rate, which is rare, and also a decent damage bonus from it's passive.

Demara Battery Mark II

Great pick for electric attack agents, and Anby's best W-Engine

Drill Rig - Red Axis

Great for electric attack agents who deal a lot of electric attacks with their basic attack.

Electro-Lip Gloss

Great general pick for any Anomaly agent as it is a general attack increase for any enemy that has an anomaly inflicted upon it.

Roaring Ride

Great pick for Anomaly units who are able to use multiple EX Special Attacks so you can get at least 2/3 of the buffs.

Six Shooter

Great pick for stun units who are not on the field very often, but when they are, this will help them deal much more Daze with their EX Special Attack.

Spring Embrace

Best pick right now for Defense agents, as it also turns them into a semi support role.

Steam Oven

Good pick for Stun units who do not have to use energy constantly in order to perform and can then unleash it all at once, such as Lycaon.

Street Superstar

Great for attack units who deal the most damage from their ultimate.

Weeping Gemini

One of the best anomaly w-engines for agents that are especially good at applying them, such as Grace.

B Tier

Big Cylinder

Second best pick for Defensive units, however, it requires you to take a hit, which could be bad depending on your HP and what you're fighting.

Bunny Band

Decent attack and HP buff for defensive units.

Housekeeper

Decent for physical attack units, however, it's niche in it's use, as you need to constantly be on the enemy in order to activate all of the stacks.

Original Transmorpher

Good if you want your defense agent to perform better as a stun unit.

Precious Fossilized Core

This W-Engine is built for ranged main DPS characters who use their basic attack a lot, as when they reach a certain distance away from the enemy, they deal extra damage. Not to mention you get PEN ratio as your additional stat, increasing your damage potential when paired with PEN.

Rainforest Gourmet

Decent attack buff, but most anomaly units will perform better off with W-Engines that boost anomaly proficiency.

Slice of Time

Good as a battery to charge your ultimate faster, but there are better support W-Engines.

Starlight Engine

The attack buff gained from this, while good, does not surpass other A rank attack w-engines.

The Vault

While this is best suited for Nicole, bosses tend to move around a lot and are not sucked in by her abilities, meaning it'll be hard to make the most out of this outside of when the enemy is stunned.

Unfettered Game Ball

While the crit rate boost is good, you eventually want your crit rate and crit damage to be at a good enough spot that the return on this will be very small and overall not worth it.

C Tier

[Identity] Base

Good starter for defensive agents

[Identity] Inflection

Good starter for defensive agents if you struggle with enemies dealing too much damage

[Lunar] Decrescent

Good starter for attack agents

[Lunar] Noviluna

The crit rate makes this probably the best starter W-Engine for attack agents.

[Lunar] Pleniluna

Good starter for agents as it's a general increase to all forms of damage outside of ultimate.

[Magnetic Storm] Alpha

Decent starter for anomaly agents, although Bravo is slightly better.

[Magnetic Storm] Bravo

Best starter for anomaly agents, as it will allow you to more easily apply the effect.

[Magnetic Storm] Charlie

Good if you want your anomaly agent to get more energy to use more EX Specials, which may be good for units such as Grace.

[Reverb] Mark I

Great starter for Support agents if you want the team to inflict more daze.

[Reverb] Mark II

Great starter for support agents if you have 2 anomaly agents in your squad.

[Reverb] Mark III

Great starter for Support agents if you want the team to deal more damage.

[Vortex] Arrow

Great starter for stun units.

[Vortex] Hatchet

Good starter for stun units if you're going into a fight that won't last long.

[Vortex] Revolver

Great starter for stun units that inflict the most daze from their EX Special attacks.

Update / Change Log

Updates / changes to the tier list will go here, as well as brief explanations. Usually as gacha games get older and get more updates, power-creep is introduced, causing weapons to move down the list in order to make new weapons more appealing, so expect the same here.
