Soukaku in Zenless Zone Zero is an A rank Agent who deals ice anomaly damage. She specializes in support, and is able to buff the teams attack, ice damage, as well as demonstrate great freezing ability!
Below, you will find the best support builds for Soukaku as of the ZZZ 1.0 release. Rather you are a F2P player or a spender, this guide is for you! *Note that these builds assume base talent level.
Overview
Available on the standard banner, Soukaku, a member of the highly regarded Hollow Special Operations Section 6, is an ice support agent who wields a battle flag that is best suited for an ice mono team thanks to her Fly the Flag not only increasing attack for the entire team, but buffing ice damage via her additional ability as well. Soukaku is best played as an off field support, where after placing the flag, you switch to your other ice units to continue the assault and ice anomaly build up!
With that being said, Soukaku should be only built as a support, as her main DPS damage and skill capability just is not there. Below, you will find Soukaku's best W-Engines, Disc Drives, Stats, Skills, Bangboo, and team!
W-Engines
A - Bashful Demon
⭐ Attack
- Increases Ice DMG by 15/17.5/20/22/24%. When launching an EX Special Attack, all squad members' ATK increases by 2/2.3/2.6/2.9/3.2% for 12s, stacking up to 4 times. Retriggering refreshes duration. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
- Without a doubt Soukaku's best W-Engine, and luckily, it's only an A rank! Bashful Demon synergizes perfectly with her kit, not only increasing the attack buff from her EX Special Fly the Flag, but also increases her ice damage.
A - Kaboom The Cannon
⭐ Energy Regen
- When any friendly unit in the squad attacks and hits an enemy, all squad members' ATK increases by 2.5/2.8/3.2/3.6/4% for 8s, stacking up to 4 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately, and each friendly unit can provide 1 stack of the buff. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
- If you can't manage to get Bashful Demon, this is Soukaku's second best pick, although this applies to most support W-Engines, as Kaboom The Cannon is extremely good for all support agents. This will further increase her attack buff, and thanks to her fly the flag with vortex dealing a lot of hits, you'll activate this passive easily, even when Soukaku is switched off field, as long as the flag is up.
Disc Drives + Stats
Option 1 - "Ice Cream!"
4 Piece Swing Jazz
(2) Energy Regen increases by 20%.
(4) Launching a Chain Attack or Ultimate increases all squad members' DMG by 15% for 12s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
2 Piece Polar Metal
(2) Ice Damage Increased by 10%
Main Stats: IV. ATK | V. ATK | VI. Energy Regen
Sub stats in order of priority:
1. ATK% | 2. Anomaly Proficiency | 3. Flat ATK | 4. Crit DMG
This build focuses on maximizing Soukaku's Ice Damage. You will always want to use Swing Jazz on her as it will increase her effectiveness as an attack buffer, and the 10% extra ice damage adds to her already innate 20% ice damage buff from her additional ability. You will need to roll more on attack for this to show it's true colors, as her attack buff scales based on her total attack. You do not need to worry about Crit Rate or Crit DMG for Soukaku as she is not built to be an effective on field attacker, and none of her kit scales based on it. You do get a 15% crit rate when she is in masked state, so some Crit DMG rolls wouldn't hurt.
Option 2 - "Let's Eat!"
4 Piece Swing Jazz
(2) Energy Regen increases by 20%.
(4) Launching a Chain Attack or Ultimate increases all squad members' DMG by 15% for 12s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
2 Piece Hormone Punk
(2) Increases ATK by 10%.
Main Stats: IV. CRIT DMG, CRIT Rate, ATK | V. ATK | VI. Energy Regen
Sub stats in order of priority:
1. ATK% | 2. Anomaly Proficiency | 3. CRIT Rate | 4. Crit DMG
This build focuses on increasing her attack with Hormone punk in order to afford you more leniency in the main stats and sub stats rolls in exchange for giving up bonus ice damage from polar metal. With this, on Main IV, you will be able to pick Crit DMG, Crit Rate, or ATK. With her masked state giving her 15% crit rate, you can opt to make her slightly more DPS focus, while still maximizing her attack buff from Fly the Flag.
Skill Priority
ALWAYS PRIOIRITZE CORE SKILL FIRST!!!
1. This is Soukaku's key ability, and is the skill that will be used the most when she is on field in order to activate Fly the Flag to buff the teams attack.
2. You will also be using Soukaku's chain attack a lot as it can directly transition to Fly The Flag, and it also grants vortex. Apart from that, her Ultimate is really good, as it has a wide AOE, transitions her into Masked State, and gives her 3 stacks of Vortex, allowing you to get the full extent of her attack buff following the next special.
3. Her assist will be used quite often, as it can transition directly into Fly The Flag. Not super important, but this is much higher priority than 4 and 5.
4. You will most likely only be attacking with Soukaku when she is in her Masked State, which only applies after using her Ultimate, leaving this near the bottom.
5. You won't be dodging much as Soukaku, as she will be off field most of the time after activating Fly The Flag, and she is also frozen in place while using it, and has anti-interrupt, making dodge less of a priority for Soukaku,
Bangboo
S - Sharkboo
Key Trait - When there are 2 or more Ice Attribute characters in your squad: Bangboo Chain Attack inflicts 100% more Anomaly Buildup.
As I highly recommend Soukaku is brought along with a mono ice team due to her additional ability buffing the teams Ice DMG by 20% for a whopping 22 seconds, Sharkboo will make it easier to apply Freeze, which is a really good anomaly effect for CC!
S - Butler
Key Trait - When there are 2 or more Victoria Housekeeping Co. character in your squad: Active Skill generates an additional 20% Energy.
If you are using the optimal team comp, which is a premium team, then Butler should be your go to pick. With Soukaku and Lycaon, your team should already be able to deal plenty ice anomaly damage, so the energy regen here will be more useful for Soukaku in order to activate her attack buff more often, or for Ellen to deal more damage with her EX Special.
A - Penguinboo
Key Trait - When there are 2 or more Ice Attribute characters in your squad: Bangboo Chain Attack inflicts 60% more Anomaly Buildup.
A weaker version of Sharkboo, but still functions greatly as a way to help your team apply Freeze more consistently.
Optimal Team Comp
This powerful mono ice team consisting of Soukaku, Ellen, and Lycaon ensures that all additional abilities are unlocked for everyone, and for Soukaku, that involves when Soukaku consumes Vortex to activate Fly the Flag, the Ice DMG of the squad is increased by 20% for 22s, making her very useful in mono ice team comps. This is a very premium team due to the fact that as of Version 1.0, there are no other A Rank Ice Agents, but if you manage to get them all, you will be able to consistently freeze, stun and deal massive amounts of Ice Damage to your foes.
Overall Thoughts
Soukaku is currently one of the best A rank agents in the game, and the best part is that you can get her completely for free just by playing the game, no gacha required! With her ability to apply powerful, long-lasting attack buffs to the party, as well as providing a lot of utility with her freezing capabilities through "Fly the Flag" and her additional ability that provides a 20% ice damage boost, she will be a vital part of Ice Teams for many patches to come. I highly recommend building her if you have any other Ice units on your squad.
